This listing is for a contemporary (1980s or 90s) Japanese han (half-width) maru-style obi. Maru obi are the most formal style of obi with patterning on both sides (which makes it more expensive). See video below to learn more about the different types of obi.

This obi features the traditional tatewaku motif (wavy lines that refer to steam coming from a hot spring) with white many-petaled blossoms (chrysanthemums?) floating all along. Gold leaves come in from each edge, and some florals have light blue centers.

11' long and 8" wide. Excellent condition.

See the videos below to learn about the different styles of obi as well as ways to use them in your decor. If you're planning to display the obi, consider adding one of our wooden display rods to your order.
