This listing is for a vintage fireman's jacket - the top of a uniform that would have had matching pants at one time.  These are often worn in parades and public events where the wearer is representing the fire station.

The center back features a circle with the name of the town where the fire station is located - we can only make out the second kanji, which means mountain and was likely pronounced "yama". On the front is likely the name of the specific fire station.

The red bands at the shoulder and the white bands at the waist are a standard element of these jackets. (Please note that Hikeshi Banten can also refer to a more elaborately woven, with decorated linings that firemen wore in parades or to indicate that a fire was successfully extinguished.

Nice light blue indigo lining made from handspun cotton.

There is an opening in need of repair under the arm on the right side - see last photo. The kanji on the back also shows some slight mottling from age.
