This listing is for one yard of vintage Japanese kimono fabric.

Classic black, red and white combination in a stenciled pattern of tatewaku - those wavy lines that represent steam rising, as if from a hot spring.

The silk has a crepe feel - nice and flouncy.  We think the pattern was created with a series of katagami stencils, one for each color or layer of patterning. See video below for how katagami are made and used.

Note that this yardage comes from deconstructed vintage Japanese kimono, so the width is just over 14" but seamlines are likely.  As a vintage fabric, this yardage may have slight blemishes, seamlines, and the like, so it is best for piecework.-------
