This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori jacket that would have been worn on top of a vintage kimono on a chilly day. It features shibori - Japanese tie-dye - and likely took weeks just to wrap the tiny bunches of fabric to create the pattern. See videos below on how shibori is done as well as on the different styles of kimono jackets. 

We do not see tulips very often on vintage kimono - just not a native flower!  But the original owner must have loved them.  But the asymmetrical patterning is typical of a shibori haori, with the design across the back hem and a smaller version on the right sleeve back and left sleeve front.

The design was all done with kaneko shibori dots - so time consuming, requiring great patience and skill.

Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath. An optional accessory is the haori himo - the little woven ties that are hooked to the little fabric loops that you'll find on at the mid-front of the haori - but they are sold separately.
