This listing is for five, slightly different yards of vintage Japanese kimono silk from one of the many short bolts shown in the second photo.  This type of red silk was intended for either a fancy underkimono or the sleeve lining for a young girl's kimono.

The color is "Japanese Red" - with a slight orange cast to it.  The jacquard features woven tone-on-tone florals and possibly cranes on some of the yardage, Gold leaf appears on each length, either stenciled in the shape of a crane or scattered across the width.

Orders will typically include five separate lengths but if you prefer continuous yardage (there may be lengths up to 3 yards long), please let us know in the notes section of the order form.

The standard width of all kimono fabric is between 13" and 14" and each length offered here is at least 36" - some are more generous cuts. The weight is heavier than typical lining silk - closer to a drapey scarf weight.

The condition is very good to excellent - there may be a slight blemish to work around, but the inspiring designs, hand work, and the ageless beauty of vintage Japanese textiles make all the extra work so worthwhile.

Check out the video below on how others have encorporated vintage kimono fabrics into their creations.
