"Edo Village" Japanique Jacket

This is a fun design! A village scene from the Edo Period complete with a pagoda and castle. The stone foundation of the castle corner is so well done! Autumn colors against black.

The pattern was created with a katagami stencil and then colored with the yuzen technique. See videos below.

Don't miss the secret pocket on the right side, see last photo above.

Each Japanique Jacket starts out as a vintage michiyuki, which is a narrow jacket with snap closures meant to be worn on top of a kimono. Most vintage michiyuki won't fit larger frames, so we modified the traditional garment slightly (removed the snaps and tacked the panels back to create lapels) to make a roomier, open, flowing jacket that can fit sizes 12-18. Our Japanique Jacket could also be crossed over and belted on a smaller sized person. These are all one-of-a-kind jackets, so sizing will vary slightly, see measurements given. See video below on the various types of kimono jackets.
