FUROSHIKI (Wrapping Cloths) and TENUGUI (Hand Towels)
These traditional Japanese textiles offer a lovely display option for your wall - framed or hanging freely - or for a table cover. Furoshiki-wrapped bottles or boxes also make lovely decorations!
Furoshiki are traditional Japanese wrapping cloths, but have many modern uses if not used for display. They're handy tied into totes to use at the grocery, at school, etc. and are great for sewing and quilting projects, too!
Tenugui are traditional Japanese hand towels, often printed by companies as advertising (think "matchbook cover") or decorative cloths. These have recently become quite popular as framed artwork, computer keyboard covers, gift wrapping, or as feature pieces in quilting or craft projects.
*NOTE: These are NEW, not vintage furoshiki and are shipped to you directly from Kyoto via economy (SAL) airmail, which takes 2-3 weeks in most cases.
