New fabric is used to make these traditional Japanese hakama. (Vintage silk hakama are also available on our Unusual and Collectors Items page.) Pleats in the front and back, slits at each hip, with the stiff backboard (koshi-ate) and two sets of ties at the waist. (We do not include the small plastic tab (obi-dome) that is sometimes sewn in the back of the hakama and tucked into the obi.) Offered in pant or skirt style.
You can request any solid color, but if you want stripes, patterns, or a specific shade of color, you must choose the fabric yourself and send it to us. You can also choose to:
-make it silk instead of cotton for $50 more
- use your own fabric (5 yards) and save $25
Allow 4 weeks (6 weeks for 2 or more garments) to be completed (not including shipping time). Rush orders can be requested based on seamstress' schedule for an additional $50 fee. Please email us or call (607) 765-3960 before placing a rush order. (NOTE: If you are sending fabric, the 4 week period begins after we receive the fabric.)
