Description

A shoji screen is the paper-grid room divider used in Japanese traditional houses. The washi paper used to back the grid can fray or break down over time, and that effect seems to be depicted here.

A milk-chocolate brown grid with each square containing a mottled square with rough edges. Obviously hand-drawn and painted. The silk is soft and smooth with a great drape.

Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath.
