Using antique kimono remnants, I made up this cute little silk pouch. Also using all silk and matching red and black kimono silks - as it was done for centuries.

These types of bags were made by samurai wives when they went through hardships or had bad luck . Those days only the very wealthy wore silk so the wives used remnants of their kimono and obi to make many items to sell. The Japanese love patchwork and making cute things - especially bags - and this is one of the traditional types.

The ends of the pulls are in the form of flowers. Sometimes we make them into little balls but this bag I tried the flowers . All mostly hand-stitched and finished.

Nearly 6.5 inches square.
