This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori kimono jacket that has been embellished with a painted dragonfly motif by Taylor Faidley (see her bio below).

The base color is a raspberry color - between pink, purple, and wine - and the silk is lightweight and has a slight crepe texture. Quite old - possibly pre-war - and in great condition.

Taylor has painted a large dragon curling around itself at the center back. Scattered about are large and small cherry blossoms. There is a single family crest at the neck, suggesting this haori was meant for a formal (or at least semi-formal) event.

Taylor Faidley is an up-and-coming young artist based in rural Pennsylvania. What might have started with crayon drawings covering the refrigerator soon became a calling that spans dozens of media. "I've pursued art for as long as I can remember. As a child I loved drawing pictures of my family. Now I work with a wide variety of materials: silk painting, acrylics, pencil drawing, digital design, felting, 3D art pieces - and now I'm painting on vintage kimono! I've always loved Japan and any kind of animation. I draw inspiration from anime and hope to be an animator myself one day. Drawing characters is my passion, but koi and cherry blossoms are never far behind. My designs are always made with care and the hope that someone will enjoy them just as much as I do."
