This listing is for the shikishi board as shown. Shikishi are stiff, (usually) square, paper-covered boards used as a canvas for drawing or painting. Seasonal and nature motifs are common, as are deities and zodiac animals. They are often displayed with seasonal decor, given as gifts, or mounted on fabric to create a scroll effect.

This shikishi depicts Daruma, the god of perserverance and focus. His body is rounded, often red (for good luck), and always rights itself if it's ver tipped over. Perseverance.

Gold border, signed by the artist and two red stamps to match his frowning lips.

This shikishi is just under 10.5" tall and 9.5" wide, The backside is plain but covered with gold speckled paper. Gold trim all around the edges.
