Description

This is a vintage Japanese semi-formal kimono jacket that features vertical rows of diamonds created with the shibori (Japanese tie-dye) technique. (See video below for how this is done.) Some of the diamonds are completely resisted shapes in white or red, while other diamonds are made from many little shibori diamonds.

The designer made sure to add these diamonds across the collar at the back of the neck for added interest!

Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath.

All of the stitching is hidden (since it was hand-sewn) so technically these haori jackets are reversible. Sometimes the lining is as pretty as the outer jacket!

We do offer haori himo - the little woven ties that are hooked to the little fabric loops that you'll find on at the mid-front of the haori - but they are sold separately. We'll select one that goes with this haori if you pick the Add A Himo Pair ($5) option above. To choose a pair of our fancier himo, CLICK HERE.
