This vintage Japanese fukuro obi features a contemporary design of a series of imperial carts (aka treasure carts) which are called gosho guruma in Japanese. These carts once carried important items for royal travelers, but also held dowry items for a new bride as she moved to her husband's home. Other elements include folding fans and pine boughs woven in gold and orange.

This is a fukuro obi - wide for the entire length, plain on the backside and a patterned design only on the front. There is a one yard "blank" section on the front, as is common with contemporary fukuro obi, where some cost can be saved by leaving it blank where the first wrap layer of the belt portion occurs, since it doesn't show to the public.
