"Katazome" Indigo Apron

A very large sized cotton apron, upcycled from an antique futon cover.

The pattern of flowers in faded indigo with a slight touch of brown (that used to be orange, no doubt), is quite typical of older futon covers. The pattern was created with a stencil (katagami) in a dying process called katazome.

It is quite faded but the cotton is still fairly sturdy. Several panel were hand-stitched together but the dark blue binding at the edges was machine sewn.

Two front pockets and ties on both sides of each panel.

Top width: 12.5"
Front width at hem: 30"
Ties: 19" and 12.5"
Length: 32" Neck to Hem
Pockets: 5"x6"
