"Samurai Child" Small Kamishimo SetThis is an authentic set of hakama pants and kamishimo vest that used to be worn by samurai in the olden days. It is a modern re-cast, however, and probably came from a parade costume shop. Children wear these in the annual Jidai Matsuri parade in Kyoto. Overall light blemishing with a few small holes, see photos.
Stiff cotton fabric, printed on one side, with three crests with the kanji for "ue" (possibly the first "initial" for a family names, such as Ueda or Ueno) on the vest and one on the hakama. A kimono would be worn underneath.No suitable for wearing - best for display or to add to a serious collection.
