This is a fukuro obi - wide for the entire length, plain on the backside and a patterned design only on the front. There is a one yard "blank" section on the front, as is common with contemporary fukuro obi, where some cost can be saved by leaving it blank where the first wrap layer of the belt portion occurs, since it doesn't show to the public.

This obi is a bright combination of green behind large fern fronds in red (outlined in orange), gold, or a silvery rainbow weave. It's a very festive option for a table runner for the holidays or a special occasion. Behind the fronds is the golden basket they are gathered in.

An elegant formal obi that is just as lovely worn with a formal kimono as it would be as a decor piece at a special party or event.
