This is one woodblock from a set of six different images of Japanese children at play that were published in the 1950s called “The Life of Japanese Children”. The artist is Keiko Yurimoto, who passed in 2000 at the age of 94. The young girl is dancing in a lively red and white kimono and there is a fan in the foreground. The delicate features of the face, kimono detail and the fan decoration were drawn in after the wood block process was completed. The print is 8” x 10” and is under glass in a plain black frame. The backside is sealed so we don’t know if there are any other discerning marks or notations on the back of the print. It is signed on the front.
