This listing is for the entire bolt of vintage Japanese obi fabric.

This bolt is, actually, a full casual obi that would have been worn with a yukata or kosode kimono. It has a soft yet sturdy feel that could be used for jacket cuffs, pillow trim, or other projects that call for a thickly woven fabric.

The color is a dusty mauvy pink and the woven pattern is quite intriguing. Since the pattern and background are the same color and the design elements are fairly abstract, following the pattern can be a challenge. See photos for different angles and close ups that reveal an elaborate design concept. Great texture.

The fabric is doubled for about one yard (this would be the thicker end that would be tied in the back of the kimono), but the rest of the bolt is a single layer (see the hand sewn seamline in the fourth photo.)

This was worn as an obi - note the center fold line which might be steamed out but we cannot guarantee that.

14" wide and 9' long. Excellent condition.
