Description

This is a vintage kimono jacket, called a haori, made for a man. The lining of men's haori jackets often depict a scene or motif that was of special interest to the original owner. We display these haori inside out to feature the lining when it is unique. Can you wear it inside out? Sure, why not. But certainly you would want to display it inside out as a decor piece.

The lining on this haori features an open book motif, with pages that seem to also be windows looking out over a castle, pagoda, and temple. Note that there is a blemish where the lining meets the outer silk - see photo.

The outer fabric is a smooth black silk with a five-star crest embroidered with tiny, tiny stitches at the neck. All of the stitching is hidden, so these jackets can normally be displayed or worn (in the West, at least) either way.

See the video below on how these traditional jackets are worn these days!
