Description

This is a vintage kimono jacket, called a haori, made for a man. The lining of men's haori jackets often depict a scene or motif that was of special interest to the original owner. We display these haori inside out to feature the lining when it is unique. Can you wear it inside out? Sure, why not. But certainly you would want to display it inside out as a decor piece.

This haori lining of this jacket is a light blue, satiny silk decorated with a hand-drawn rural scene with huts, a mountain path, pine trees and the signature of the artist.

The outer fabric is a blue and black oshima silk weave, with a crispness and sheen that give it a formal look. There are a few blemishes - discolorations at the edge of each sleeve and in one spot on the front left collar - and the price reflects the condition. But we feel it is still quite wearable or suitable for display with the lining side out. All of the stitching is hidden, so these jackets can normally be displayed or worn (in the West, at least) either way.

See the video below on how these traditional jackets are worn these days!
