Description

This vintage Japanese haori jacket would have been worn on top of a vintage kimono on a chilly day. The retro feel of the patterning suggests it might be from the 1950s or 1960s.

The soft, drapey silk is lightweight with a hand that suggests it was woven mid-century. The pattern is subtle and sweet - so nice for Autumn.

Slender, delicate pine needles and leaves float along in brown with red and yellow accents. Behind them is a densely dyed pattern of tiny dots in browns, gray, and more.

There's also a lovely lining in case you're tempted to wear it reversed. A floral collage in red on white silk offers quite a contrast to the more abstract outer patterning.

Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath. All of the stitching is hidden (since it was hand-sewn) so technically these haori jackets are reversible. Sometimes the lining is as pretty as the outer jacket!

We do offer haori himo - the little woven ties that are hooked to the little fabric loops that you'll find on at the mid-front of the haori - but they are sold separately. We'll select one that goes with this haori if you pick the Add A Himo Pair ($5) option above.

Going to display this haori? Add one of our display rods (see color options above).
