Called a juban in Japanese, this vintage Japanese kimono was meant to be worn as an under layer. Juban are typically shorter than regular kimono so they make great bathrobes or long tunics!

A lovely, feminine kimono with a pattern of floating sakura (cherry blossoms) that shimmer against a pastel-striped checkerboard. Look closely at the block pattern - some of the squares are askew!

It is unlined but still a bit heavier than most juban, which makes us think it is synthetic or a silk blend. Quite a nice smooth drape.

This kimono comes with the obijime cord shown to use as a belt for casual wear.

The white over-collar (called an eri), is the only part of this undergarment that the public would see when it is worn traditionally, underneath a kimono. Eri are basted on top of a plain cotton collar and removed for washing or to be replaced for a more formal version when called for.
