"Orange Shibori" Oki Modified Japanese Haori - XL

An amazing jacket that features a large seigaiha (overlapping wave) pattern - each curve filled with a geometric design - and all done with tiny kaneko shibori dots. So much hand work here! The dyer was masterful as well - note the subtle color gradations. Nice floral lining. See video below on the shibori technique.

These slightly modified vintage Japanese kimono jackets offer a comfy fit for larger women. In our Oki Line (Oki means "big" in Japanese) of modified haori jackets, we open up the gusset and underarm seams and then re-attached them using every inch of the salvage seam edges. This yields up to an additional 6" of width in the waist, hip, and bust measurements.

Unmodified haori tend to be more narrow at the bust because the side gussets gradually narrow from waist to bust. Compare your measurements to those given, and keep in mind that the measurements we give are the haori measurements, not a recommendation for the wearer's measurements.

Remember, vintage haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath.
