Description

This listing is for a single 3-yard length of vintage Japanese cotton indigo, salvaged from a full kimono. See the video below on how Japanese indigo is processed and the fabrics dyed and woven.

There are several indigo kasuri patches. Two of the patches are visible from the front side, so they were patching holes. The other patches are on the backside to reinforce worn areas.

There is a 4-inch slit in the middle of the piece (see photo), which is where this panel would have been attahed to the collar piece.

The main fabric is indigo-dyed cotton in a tiny grid pattern created with an ikat (aka kasuri) style weaving (where the threads are resist-dyed before weaving so that a pattern appears on the loom).

Length = 3yds
Width = 14in
