We salvaged these vintage Japanese kimono fabric sleeves from kimono that were too damaged to sell for wearing or display.
Sleeve #1 has an abstract design that has a block-checkerboard look from a distance. Smooth, shiny silky feel with colors like instant coffee with cream. Synthetic. Lined.
Sleeve #2 is mainly cream with flecks of mocha in the overall kaneko shibori design. Older silk, still sturdy, but soft and not much pucker left in the shibori. Silk.
Sleeve #3 is a very light cappuccino color with a textured, woven, design of vines with a little sparkle. Some blemishes. Silk blend?
Yes, the colors lighter in the close up photo than in the full-image photo but the colors are closer to the ones shown in the close up photo.
Where do they come from? We deconstruct damaged, plain or just-too-funky-to-wear garments and use most of that fabric for our Japanique Boutique line of gift and accessories, but we save the sleeves for you!
Each sleeve length varies from 14"-24" but open the seam to double that length. See photos for size of each sleeve. Most are lined (bonus fabric!). We try to note any significant defects in the photos but other slight blemishes are possible. Vintage kimono fabrics are best for piecework in case imperfections need to be worked around.
See video below where Nancy explains the how and why of our Sleeve Sets, as well as a video to learn more about shibori.
