Description

A vintage man's kimono jacket (called a haori). The decorative lining on these formal jackets often reflects the hobbies, interests, or favorite myths of the original owner.

A dark blue silk for the outer garment layer, and on the lining is a subtle, hand painted rural scene of thatched roof houses nestled near a river, where a small boat awaits the fisherman. Lovely soft colors, and the artist's name is written in the upper right corner. Nice blue shaded front lining and blue silk lining on the sleeves. An elegant dinner jacket that can be worn right side out for an understated look or inside out to create conversation.

We display these men's haori inside out to reveal the lining - normally hidden from public view when worn, and only visible if glimpsed as it was taken off or hung up. All of the stitching is hidden, so these jackets can normally be displayed or worn (in the West, at least) either way.

See the video below on how men wear traditional Japanese garments.
