This listing is for a summer, semi-sheer version of the traditional Japanese michiyuki jacket, meant to be layered on top of a kimono. It's longer length was popular in the 1920s but the condition is excellent so it may be a more contemporary version.

This michiyuki (michi refers to "street" and yuki refers to "goin out") is a lovely spring green color with a woven pattern of pinked flower petals floating all about. The edges of the petals were woven with a twisting technique so they stand out against the same-color background. Nice soft drape to the fabric.

Snap closures and a secret pocket in the front panel. There is a slight, single dot of a blemish on the front left of the collar, see last photo.

The lightweight, open weave allows air to pass through the layers as a way to cool the wearer on Japan's warm summer days. This haori is not as sheer as summer haori usually are, but, as you can see in the photo, a light colored underlayer will show through.
