This listing is a vintage Japanese folding fan (sensu in Japanese). See videos below on how these fans are made - it's quite an elaborate and precise process.

The imagery is four large kanji characters and a set of smaller characters in black on a cream colored paper. The poem translates to "as serene as a river, burning bright like coal". There's a red artisan's stamp on the front side. Backside is plain.

Note size in the photos shown. Some signs of use and age, see photos, but otherwise very good condition.
