This listing is a vintage Japanese folding fan (sensu in Japanese). See videos below on how these fans are made - it's quite an elaborate and precise process.

The imagery is five lines of kanji characters in black on a cream colored paper. The rough translation is "With sincerity comes compassion for all".

There's another set of kanji on the backside which could be the materials supplier.

The fan comes with a case made from summer kimono fabric - it's semi-sheer, as shown in the photo - with a snap closure.

Note size in the photos shown. Excellent condition.
