"Ikat Confetti" Woman's Kimono Festive design of colored, abstract geometrics scattered against a cream background. Seems like little scraps of paper being taken by the wind. Look closely to see the subtle gray shaded threads behind the colors that give the design more depth. Ikat (sometimes called kasuri on cotton or meisen silk) is the textile process where the threads are dyed before being woven such that the patterning emerges on the loom. Small variations in the thread dying process create "fuzzy" edges to the patterns - this fabric is a "double ikat", where both the warp and weft threads were dyed this way so the "fuzziness" goes in both directions.
