"Calligra-fight" Man's Haori

A wonderful whimsical scene depicting an Edo Period man (a court scribe?) tumbling with two young women - each holds a brush.  Seems like he's breaking up a fight - look at the expressions on the faces!

The entanglement of the robes and limbs creates a jumbled scene that takes a while to decypher who's doing what to whom.

Signed by the artist.  The cream silk is thin but holding up well. Although it is wearable, it belongs on a wall with a spotlight.

The outer jacket is a black or very dark brown color with stripes.

We display these men's haori inside out to reveal the lining - normally hidden from public view when worn, and only visible if glimpsed as it was taken off or hung up.

All of the stitching is hidden, so these jackets can normally be displayed or worn (in the West, at least) either way.

Lined? Yes

Condition: Very Good - a few blemishes and signs of wear.
