Description

This listing is for a vintage happi coat - typically worn for parades or festivals, and usually decorated with auspicious designs or kanji that refer to an event sponsor, community organization, or even the town government. But in this case, it seems to be more of a store uniform.

The firm, medium-weight cottonfabric is a tiny black and white pinstripe. The black collar features white kanji lettering that translates to "Akegokoro - Refined Sake"- which suggests it would be worn by an employee of the sake maker. There is no large kanji character on the back, so likely this was a worker's uniform rather than a parade or festival jacket. But the company name is printed on the back of the collar, so the company could be identified from behind.

Note that there are also two pockets - a patch pocket on the inside left and a slit pocket on the right side seam.
