Description

This listing is for a "kinchaku" - a drawstring purse or pouch that was (is) traditionally used by a kimono-clad woman in Japan. They're typically made with kimono fabric and tend to be for casual, rather than formal, occasions.

This purse is a vintage gem with it's homemade feel and retro colors. The basket bottom is woven bamboo, and the topper is made of rows of crocheted yarn in pink, green and black. Green crocheted cords the handles once they're pulled through the pink crocheted tabs at the top that cinch the bag closed.

More handwork can be seen across the top of the basket, where the topper was sewn to the basket. Thank you, Granny!
