"Young Man" Boy's Haori

This is a vintage Japanese haori jacket unlike any other we've seen before.

Typically, a young boy's haori is designed on the outside, usually with a large striking image on the back (e.g., a hawk or koi or samurai). Designs on the inside lining are usually reserved for adult men's haori jackets, which are rarely - if ever - as colorful on the outside as this one is. In fact, the outer fabric of this jacket has a metallic thread woven in, so it shimmers a bit.

Our best guess is that this is a jacket was designed for a teenage boy for a special occasion because it has the five-crests associated with the highest level of formality.

The inside lining features a hand-painted image of Mt Fuji, along with gourds (considered lucky), and other patterned elements, and a signature.

The outside fabric is blue and brown with silver woven in to give it a bit of a sparkle.

Some very light blemishing on the outside crests, see photos.
