This listing is for a pair of man's formal haori himo ties as shown. This pair is white, suggesting it is meant for a formal occasion - possibly a wedding. Japanese grooms wear a similar white haori himo during the ceremony (though in modern times the tassles are more like pompoms).

Haori himo are the braided or woven cords that tie together at the front of a traditional haori jacket. Men's haori himo are longer, wider, and with bigger tassle ends than women's haori himo. They also come pre-tied as shown. This special knot is difficult to master, so little hooks are used to attach the himo to the little loops on the haori front collar without having to untie it. We don't recommend untying it.

Men's haori himo are typically 13-15 inches long and about three-quarters of an inch wide, but this can vary by a few centimeters.

Haori himo - sometimes referred to as kumihimo - are created on a special loom with a macrame or braiding technique - see the video below on how this is done.
