This listing is for a pair of man's haori himo ties as shown. Unused and in its original box. This pair is a medium-dark blue and comes with the traditional "s" curve hooks as shown.

Haori himo are the braided or woven cords that tie together at the front of a traditional haori jacket. Men's haori himo are longer, wider, and with bigger tassle ends than women's haori himo. They also come pre-tied in a special knot which is difficult to master, so little hooks are used to attach the himo to the little loops on the haori front collar without having to untie it.

Men's haori himo are typically ten inches long and about three-quarters of an inch wide, but this can vary by a few centimeters. We do not recommend untying it.

Haori himo - sometimes referred to as kumihimo - are created on a special loom with a macrame or braiding technique - see the video below on how this is done.
