"Edo in the Pine" Japanique Jacket

This free size Japanique Jacket features dozens of hand-drawn and painted figures that appear along a path through the thick pine forest. Each figure, each face and each costume was delicately painted in soft colors.

Very cool lining peeks out at the collar that we turned out to create the lapel. Even cooler buttons were made from wound fabric. And there's a secret pocket!

Each Japanique Jacket starts out as a vintage michiyuki, which is a narrow jacket with snap closures meant to be worn on top of a kimono. Most vintage michiyuki won't fit larger frames, so we modified the traditional garment slightly (removed the snaps and tacked the panels back to create lapels) to make a roomier, open, flowing jacket that can fit sizes 12-18.

Our Japanique Jackets can also be crossed over and belted on a smaller sized person. These are all one-of-a-kind jackets, so sizing will vary slightly, see measurements given.
