This listing is for a donuki kimono - an underlayer for a formal kimono. The lower skirt fabric as well as the collar and sleeve trim are typically made from the same silk as the over kimono, and the bodice and sleeves are often brightly colored though they would not be seen by the public.

The white silk on this donuku is a luxurious crepe silk. The bodice and sleeves feature a purple and cream colored shibori pattern that, close up, seemed like a geometric pattern. But step back and we can see that the cream design is actually a floral motif, but likely done with a clamp shibori technique. So interesting!

The white over-collar (called an eri) is the only part of the underkimono that would be seen by the public, and with the white silk at the hem, sleeves, and collar matching the outerkimono, this juban would have been invisible to the casual observer.

Lined. There is a small blemish at the front left panel - see last photo - but it would be hidden under a belt and does not impact the desirability or wearability of the kimono.

The silk is soft and luxurious to wear. Like all of our vintage kimono, an obi/belt/sash is not included but can be purchased separately as an option (see above).
