"Fuji and Tea" Man's Haori

A vintage formal man's kimono jacket (called a haori). The decorative lining on these formal jackets often reflects the hobbies, interests, or favorite myths of the original owner.

The lining is a lovely golden color with a collaged, woven design that includes clouds and Mt. Fuji on a folding fan shape and a beautifully wrapped chaire (tea caddy for green tea). You'll also see pairs of deer and birds in the lower boundary section.

The outer jacket is a solid black with five crests.

We display these men's haori inside out to reveal the lining - normally hidden from public view when worn, and only visible if glimpsed as it was taken off or hung up.

All of the stitching is hidden, so these jackets can normally be displayed or worn (in the West, at least) either way. See the video below on how to wear traditional Japanese garments for men.
