“Grid of Fans” Oki Modified Japanese Haori - XL

These slightly modified vintage Japanese kimono jackets offer a comfy fit for larger women.

Very cool pattern when you look closely. A grid of folding fans in a merlot purple - all lined up perfectly. Tiny sakura (cherry blossoms) appear at the point of each fan! Get a magnifying glass if need be, but you'll see that the petals are pinked (heart-shaped) which is the tell tale sign of sakura.

A silky, shiny synthetic. A few very light and tiny blemishes scattered on the front sleeve, but hard to see and photograph.

In our Oki Line (Oki means “big” in Japanese) of modified haori jackets, we open up the gusset and underarm seams and then re-attached them using every inch of the salvage seam edges. This yields up to an additional 6” of width in the waist, hip, and bust measurements. Unmodified haori tend to be more narrow at the bust because the side gussets gradually narrow from waist to bust. Compare your measurements to those given, and keep in mind that the measurements we give are the haori measurements, not a recommendation for the wearer’s measurements. Remember, vintage haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath.
