This listing is for a vintage Japanese abacus - called soroban in Japanese. We purchased a large lot of these - maybe an accounting firm went out of business or bought calculators! All seem previously used but in great condition.

There are 27 columns and 5 rows of beads.

Sturdy wood and steel frame; plastic beads. The sizes vary slightly but are between 14" and 16" long and average 3" wide.

Some crafters use the beads in jewelry, some musicians use it as a percussion instrument - but if you want to use it for math, check out the video below!
