This listing is for a vintage michiyuki jacket, meant to be worn over a kimono. A square neck line, inner ties to keep the hemline straight, snap closure, and a hidden pocket on the right front panel are the specific features of a michiyuki - michi means "street" and yuki refers to "going out".

This michiyuki features a dark indigo blue splash pattern against a rich robin's egg blue background. It is all laid out in a grid - that might have been made with the shibori technique.  We love the asymmetrical layout of the grid, with one "line" missing from several bands of patterning.  It create a balance without symmetry.

A nice flouncy silk crepe fabric - fun to wear. But what a lovely display this would make as well. There are a few very light blemishes - see last photo - that are hardly noticeable.

Michiyuki are a narrow garment, fastened with snaps that will open if the fit is too tight. (The measurement we give is the jacket snapped closed, so your hips and waist measurement should be several inches smaller than the hips/waist measurement we give.)
