This listing is a single sleeve taken from a vintage formal kimono.

This fabric is a wonder.  A heavily woven brocade, it comes from a deconstructed vintage kimono that might have been created for some sort of performance. The weave is quite heavy for a kimono - more of a formal maru obi weight - and it could not have been easily belted.

The design is also unusual - a river scene that seems quite European, if not English.  A small boy clad in western garb paddles a small row boat towards a low, stone bridge. Next to the bridge is a set of stone houses.  Below the blue river is a larger boat with rigging afloat in a shimmering sea.

Note that on the backside, the motif is upside down because the weaving is continuous - no shoulder seam.

Gorgeous red crepe silk lining.

There is a small tear on the edge of one side - see last photo.

Note that the 30" length given is the sleeve length - so when the seams are opened up the final length of the yardage wouldd be 60".

Though we can't be sure, we suspect this is a nishijn-woven piece.  See video below for more on this.
