This listing is for one yard of vintage ikat meisen silk Japanese kimono fabric.

A dark pine green alternates with gray, cream, and light peachy-pink bands that follow what seems to be a random sequence. Nice color combination, and the silk is crisp and smooth.

This silk fabric is known as meisen - a form of stencil and ikat weaving that was very popular in the 1920s and 30s. To learn how meisen is made, watch the video below from the Chichibu Meisen Museum near Tokyo.

Note that this yardage comes from deconstructed vintage Japanese kimono, so the width is just over 14". Some of the original seam stitching threads may remain and can be easily picked from the original seamlines. The pattern is the same on the front and back.
