Black Obi Bamboo Hanging Rod
Simple and elegant natural bamboo rod makes it easy to display your kimono or haori.
Offered in a black stain, that has a smooth, glossy finish. We also have a natural finish, click here to see that listing.
These are real bamboo shafts, naturally thicker at one end and more narrow at the other and hollow except for the bumpy joints. Each rod is sanded smooth and sprayed with a protective clear coat lacquer, but at the narrow end you can peek in an inch or two where a small hole at the tip confirms that this is natural bamboo.
To make it easy to hang, small holes have been drilled on both ends and there is a leather strap in each hole to hang the pole from your decorative nail or hook (not included).
The rod is 28" wide with a 20" display width, ideal for obi, which are about 14" wide. To display an item that is 20-27" wide, you need only remove each leather strap from its hole, tie it in a loop, and scoot each loop toward each end of the rod. You can also replace the straps with whatever type of cording you choose, see photos for examples.
These fine pieces are custom made for us by Brazos Walking Sticks in Texas (see their link below) but are shipped from us in New York.
