"Edo Princess" Girl's Kimono

This is a formal kimono for a young girl – possibly meant for the Shichi-Go-San Festival, where children who are three, five, or seven years old visit the local temples and shrines as a rite of passage. See below for a cute video featuring kids wearing traditional kimono.

The featured image on the back of this kimono is a young woman of a samurai or royal family of the Edo Period (1603-1868). Note her layered kimono, long black hair, and the painted dots above her eyes - everything is so delicately drawn.

A small blemish on the back - see photo - but still this is a fantastic display piece.

The patterning was done with the yuzen technique - see video below for how this is done.
