"Golden Taiko" Tomesode Kimono

Elegant, "Mother of the Bride" style tomesode kimono - made for formal wear.

Lots of gold on this elegant kimono. Shaded colors on the detail of the waves along the hem, pine boughs scattered about, and more. Folding fans are the background to taiko drums, flying cranes, and a very detailed treasure cart. Couching/embroidery accents around the featured elements on the front panel.

See video below on this technique.

Five paulownia crests.

Very good condition - fading on the collar fold line, see photo.

A tomesode kimono is typically overall black silk with five family crests on the upper section (one at the neck, one on the back of each sleeve, one on each side of the collar) which confirms it is the highest level of formality for a kimono. The design stretches across the hemline with more image in the front, where it would be seen best, but continues across to the back.

Couching embroidery
