Here you'll find a mix of style options.  All of these jackets were designed to be worn atop a kimono.

  • Haori jackets are not meant to cross over in the front and they do not take a sash.
  • Dochugi jackets do cross over and can be fastened with sewn in ties.  Dochugi styles offer the most room for sizes 14-18).
  • Michiyuki jackets have snap closures and a square, scooped or scalloped neckline low enough to reveal the V-of the kimono (or camisole?) underneath.
  • Japanique Jackets are created by Kyoto Kimono using a michiyuki jacket as the base, removing the restrictive front panel, and adding a constrasting collar from a traditional haori.
