"Formal Crested" Man's KimonoWe made a bulk purchase of these formal men's kimonos. Each features a different family crest in five locations, indicating the kimono is for a formal occasion. The sizing varies slightly, but will be within the range given below. Typically, they will easily fit a small or medium-build man, but are likely to be short (but still wearable as a robe or under hakama pants) on anyone over 5'8" tall.
"His Master's Voice" Man's KimonoAn unsual piece to add to the collector who has everything else. We can't even guess the year becaue this kimono is in excellent condition except for a few small spots on the plainer sleeve. The hallmark is a large medallion with the RCA dog with his nose in the speaker of the old photograph. The image is not matched up across the shoulder seam but could be fixed if need be. A fun and rare find.
"Kinkakuji" Man's HaoriSemi-formal man's silk kimono jacket (haori) without any crests. Shown with lining side out, revealing a glorious painted boat with wonderful detail on the sails and more. Framed by a deep, rich Sea of Japan blue. There are three small holes at the shoulder, but the fabric is otherwise sturdy and the jacket is still quite wearable, though of course better to display the artwork! The outer fabric is a plain brown silk.
"Love the Ponies" Man's UnderKimonoThese underkimonos were designed specifically for their original owner, and in this case he must have loved horses and western riding. This unusual patterning features cream colored arched bands where several riders - all wearing striped caps and vests - seem to chase one another around the kimono. Quite a collector's item. In great shape - quite wearable - but would certainly add flavor to any kimono collection.
